50mg/day Zoloft, VERY bad nausea!?

I've recently (2 days ago) been put on Zoloft, 50mg/day, for GAD. I am experiencing a number of symptoms, most of which I know are common for SSRIs.. and I know out of the SSRIs, Zoloft is known for causing the most GI side effects.

But, the nausea is bad. It feels like what women describe morning sickness nausea. It just started today shortly after my dose (which I took without a meal, got delayed going to eat). I expected the nausea from an empty stomach but not for it to last the entire day!

I will be taking Zoloft at night from now on, hopefully the nausea will pass in my sleep, but I am also taking Ambien to sleep, and heard that it reduces the efficiency of Zoloft? Should I no take them near the same time?

Any natural remedies for the nausea? Right now I'm drinking spearmint tea.

I was on zoloft and I slowly gained twenty plus pounds. I didnt experience any nausea but the weight gain was more than I could handle. I would try the zoloft at night before you went to sleep and see if you can get a good nights sleep without the ambien. If not, try tylenol PM. That should work. If it doesnt, I suppose you can resume the ambien.

Its, more or less, trial and error. You need to get on the right mix of meds for U. Believe me, your body will tell you when your on the right meds. Listen to your body and tell the doctor accordingly. Good luck and good health.
Reply:The logical thing would be to talk to your doctor and see what he/she says.
Reply:Hi... if your doctor knew you were already taking ambien and prescribed it with the zoloft, then apparently he knew what he was doing? You could remind him about it, if you are uncomfortable about it.

Meanwhile, many side effects of anti-depressants do tend to subside after the first couple of weeks.

I'd also recommend talking with the doctor about this, if it's really bad. There is no sense taking a medication which causes you problems or doesn't work well (it's to early to tell, but many people continue taking meds which dont help a bit).

have you tried tums? just a suggestion?
