Parvo!!!!!!!!11 Help!!!!?

Our five month old boxer just died with parvo. 15days after his last shot. We kept him at the vet for 2 nights he then lost his battle.Well now we have a 3month old lab/pit that has no shots. He is our nephew dog .They believe that the shots make him more prone to getting sick.Well 3 days later he is showing signs of parvo. how do we treat him at home?does parvaid work? Do vets or pets mart sell it? We are using honey on his gums and making him some herbal tea with peppermint and spearmint ,garlic, chamomile and echinacea. It is helping in stabilize the nausea. We are giving him oak water instead of pedialyte and vitamin c. A friend gave us this recipe. it seems to be working. You can't tellhe is sick except that he sleeps a lot . We wake him every hour and give him a little fluids. Some people are born rich .We spent $600.00 And our dog still died .We can't afford to take this one to the vet.On monday we get paid and if he stays strong we'll take him them.any advice please till then

Parvo!!!!!!!!11 Help!!!!?
Take the puppy to the vet to be treated! If he's just showing signs, then he's got a chance! The shots DO NOT make it prone to getting sick and he's most likely gotten it because the virus is still alive in your house!

You need to completely sterilize everything in your house. Have the carpets professionally cleaned and wash down everything you can with bleach mixed with water to kill the virus.
Reply:Exactly what Yo LO! said.

Take him to the vet immediately. Chances are good he will get better. Explain to your vet you will pay him on Monday. Write a check, post dated. They will be happy to hold it until the money is in. They want to see your dog healthy and happy, too.

Clean your house thoroughly. Then disinfect it. Then bleach everything you can. (1/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon of water kills 99.99% of germs.) Then clean your house again, all cracks and crevices. That virus is ALIVE in your house. Don't let it take the life of anyone else.
Reply:I hope you're kidding...? Why on earth would you bring an unvaccinated puppy into the situation? How do you expect him to survive with home treatment, when even vet care couldn't save the last? There is no home treatment, the puppy needs a vet. He didn't do this...YOU did. If you can't afford it, find a rescue and don't get another. Time is critical! (Edit: I've taken in two parvo puppies in my lifetime, both made it...but vet care was prompt! Also, the vet might be willing to let you make payments...especially since you've just been through this. Call and ask...beg. If there's an actual emergency clinic in your area, try them too...the one here does take payments. PLEASE don't wait...they go downhill fast!)
Reply:Parvo can stay in your ground for up to a year. That is why the new pup got it.

I've heard a lot of good things about Parvaid. You can get it at http://www.ambertech.com

They also have a recipe for a "tea" to keep the dog hydrated until their product comes. Many people have home cured their parvo pups. The key is keeping them hydrated. Sounds like you are doing a good job.

I would leave the garlic out of your herbal tea. This is not good in high doses for adult dogs (can cause anemia). Therefore, I wouldn't be giving it to a sick pup.
Reply:Oh please, my heart goes out to you, you just have to take him to the vet I know and realize money is a real big issue for you but you just have to, also didn't anyone tell you that parvo can lie dormant in soil and stuff for up to two years its a very hardy bug, please please get him to a vet, big hugs for you both
Reply:sorry to say but it is the law in US that the dog needs to be seen by the vet and if not you can be charged with cruelty to animals and can end you up in jail for up to a year and a $2,500 fine so it would be cheaper to get teh dog to the vets NOW.
Reply:Hmmmmmm! Did your vet not tell you that to get another pup so soon after parvo in the grounds is a death sentence to thwe new arrival?

I admire the way you are trying to cure your pup, BUT parvo needs to be treated by a vet. The fact that this pup is a cross breed, I believe it is stronger than a pedigree. Time is of the essence though. Please take it to the vet.
