Old sweets?

Does anyone remember those old chewy, square sweets that were green and white striped and tasted of spearmint (UK) and what were they called? What are your favourite 'retro' sweets. Have you tried to get hold of any old favourites? I'll post a link to a site if I get some interesting answers!

Reply:I LOVE Apple jacks - they were like black jacks, but apple flavour.

I've been hunting and hunting but haven't found any in over 8 years.

Oooh, they were delicious.

I know the ones you mean, at least I think I do, but I can't for the life of me remember the name!

I also loved those chocolate ones, in the little foil cups, that had that really melty chocolate inside. Not seen them in about the same length of time - one shop used to do them, and I still check in there, even now!
Reply:i remember them but for the life of me i cant remember what they are called
Reply:they were called pacers, but i don't remember them, just had this discussion at work the other week, i remembered visa versas but no one else seemed to, they were chocolate like minstrels only had white choc in middle and brown shell and milk choc inside white shell.
Reply:Sorry dont remember them. I used to love fruit salads and blackjacks they were 4 for a penny (old money )
Reply:I think they were called spearmints. I do remember them though I was not allowed sweets any more than once a month. Mmm, I can taste them now.

I did rather go in for space dust at one point. Now I like kit-kat though only for medicinal purposes when I am hypoglycaemic.

Diabetes is a horrible disease but the treatment can be rather pleasant. As long as you do not over do it!
Reply:my favorite retro sweet isn't even all that sweet. it's a breath freshener called sen-sen. little tiny black squares that taste oddly of soap and liccorice. my grandfather always had the tiny gold packet in his pocket, and would always give me one when i would go visit him. when i was in school, long after his passing, i found a local druggist that still sold them!! i bought several packs, as they were only a dime each. when some of my class mates asked for one, i obliged. of course, 98% of them immediately spat them out and complained to the teacher that I was trying to poison them. when the teacher asked to see what I had given them, his eyes lit up!! i ended up giving him a whole pack.
Reply:? remember them - were they called spearm?nt chews?? ---- aha yes ? have found them - they are spearm?nt chews made by taveners , check th?s s?te out
Reply:Pacers, they were lovely. and i used to like spangles, but they made my mouth bleed when i crunched them up,cos they were like chewing glass. tasty tho. and toffos, oh, where are they now!?!
Reply:i know the sweets you mean but can't remember their name , i loved lucky potatoes as a child and sour plooms yum yum
Reply:My favourite was Mint Cracknell! You also used to be able to buy a bar of chocolate which consisted of 2 very thin bars and a bar of milk tray which was a bar with raised shapes of strawberries and hazelnuts etc with those fillings that you now get as a seperate chocolate in a box now.
Reply:im not sure what ur refering to 'cause im from the US, it seems though that over there in the Uk y'all have all kinds of funny sweets. i used to have a pen pal from Kent when i was in my teens and we used to exchange things and she would send me the weirdest candies.

I love pink shrimps and remember MOON DUST? That stuff that exploded in your mouth! Wow! wasn't that stuff just out of this planet!!!

I remember getting 25p in the 1970's for pocket money on Saturdays. My sister and I would go to the local corner shop (the BOB shop) to buy our sweeties. What a lot of sweeties we would get too! as you got 2 Mojo's for just 1/2p then I think.
